Hi there, my name is Heather Morton, and this is a little bit about me :

I am a Colorado native, which is a funny thing to be proud of, but with how many amazing new people move here every day, it seems relevant to share.

I have been an Independent Artist for 3.5 years, and in the industry for 8 years. I work with an amazing team at COMMON Salon in Park Hill. Being an Independent Artist means that I have the incredible opportunity to run my own business, behind my own chair; I also get to work in a boutique salon space with a team of independent and unbelievably talented stylists beside me.

I became a certified Balayage Master through Masters of Balayage, with Ryan Weeden, in 2022. He is a leading expert in Balayage in the industry. This advanced course has taught me so many new techniques for creating low maintenance, lived-in, picturesque colors, for all types of clientele. The 12 week course made it possible for me to really focus on what services will best suit each client, and their hair needs; whether that means a French Balayage, a Transitional Color, or a Creative Balayage Service.

I worked with Sweep Salons, for 2.5 years. I learned an amazing amount of knowledge about true French Balayage there. Balayage has been tweaked in so many different and beautiful variations, but the true and honest French version, is my absolute favorite. This original version of Balayage is the most natural, sunkissed, and seamless blend of color - meant to enhance your natural locks. I worked with some of the most inspirational and knowledgeable women at Sweep, and we constantly worked to perfect our craft for our clients.

I was a Level 4 stylist with Envogue Salon in the Golden Triangle neighborhood of Denver, for 5 years. I learned amazing new techniques and creative ways to tackle any hair obstacle that comes my way, from some truly talented stylists. This is where I learned how to accomplish babylights, several variations of balayage techniques, color corrections and creative blonding services, root shadows and color melts - anything you can think of when it comes to beautiful color. I began to specialize in blonding services, specifically, while working with the Envogue team.

My love for hair began while I was working with 303 Magazine as a Fashion Column Journalist, as well as working as a Salon Coordinator. I worked behind the scenes for upscale fashion shows, photo shoots, and weddings during this time, and quickly realized my love for fashion could be used in the Hair Industry as well. This is when I realized hair and makeup were much more fun, creative, and hands on than the clothing side of fashion.

I graduated Paul Mitchell the School Denver in 2016 and have been pursuing continued education, refinement of my skills, opportunities to work with trending fashions, and growing my business ever since. I think it is important to always stay humble in this industry, and continue to learn new trends and techniques that you can educate your clientele on. My clients are my passion and I never take it for granted that they trust me with their hair.
